The Health and Safety of everybody who may be affected by our work based activities is of paramount importance to us. It is our intention to ensure that all work based activities are carried out to comply with all applicable legal requirements, and that all reasonably practicable measures are taken to prevent injury and ill health to all of our employees and to others who may be affected by our acts or omissions.

We strive for continuous improvement and believe that the key to successful Health and Safety management is through the creation of an open and honest Health and Safety culture that encourages awareness amongst our staff in respect of their work activities and environment.
We have lots of experience working under the CDM regulations in both Principal Contractor and Contractor positions- all supported by our highly trained and experienced team.
Our Health and Safety department at Gilks is managed by a full-time Health and Safety Practitioner presently qualified to GradIOSH status. Active consultation and participation by all staff members are vital components of our Health and Safety management model where expert advice and a proactive workforce results in a safety conscious and productive team.

Recognition of the commitment, desire, and hard work by all persons working at Gilks has resulted in our Occupational Health and Safety Management system being accredited to BS OHSAS 18001 during August 2012- an award that we are particularly proud to have achieved given its truly international standing and status.

We are also accredited through CHAS, Constructionline, and Safe Contractor and hold a Gold Certificate of Commitment from the CSCS
